Having taken up hockey at the age of 14 years old, Najmi is an avid fan of Dutch legend and skilled hockey drag flicker, Taeke Takema.

Najmi worked his way through the inter-school and MSSM levels in Perlis, attracting the attention of professional scouts. He eventually made his big breakthrough to the Malaysian National Hockey Squad in 2016.

Domestically, Najmi is the first choice penalty corner specialist for Maybank in the Malaysian Hockey League (MHL).

Najmi has been impressed with the technical and innovative new range of GR Graphene Sticks launched by Grays.

A solid centre-back, his presence has brought stability to the Malaysian hockey defence.

In 2022, Najmi was appointed captain of the Malaysian Mens National Squad, and will lead the pack into the #HWC2023.
